Rogue archers take on the elements at SQAS Matchplay

A total of 26 Rogue Archers competed at the SQAS Matchplay event, marking our strongest representation yet at an outdoor tournament.

As one of the first regional outdoor events of the season, the competition was a fantastic opportunity for our archers to put their training into practice in a tournament environment. It was also an especially valuable experience for some of our newer archers, who had the chance to compete in the handicapped division at closer distances for the first time.

The weekend brought challenging conditions, with strong winds and cold weather testing everyone on the shooting line. Despite that, it was impressive to see the way our archers approached the event with resilience and a positive mindset.

At Rogue Archery, we teach the philosophy that outdoor conditions are part of the sport. Wind, weather, and changing environments are all part of the challenge, which is why we train in all conditions to be ready for all conditions. That preparation was reflected throughout the event, as our archers adapted well, stayed committed to strong technical fundamentals, read the wind cues effectively, and avoided being drawn into negative self-talk or wishful thinking.

More than anything, the SQAS Matchplay was a great step forward for the group as a whole. It was an opportunity to gain valuable experience, test routines under pressure, and continue building confidence heading into the outdoor season.
