Rogue Archers Take on Challenging Conditions at the SQAS Championships

The SQAS Target Championships and SQAS Short Range Championships were recently held at Samford Valley Target Archers, with 15 Rogue Archery members taking part across the weekend.

The competition provided a valuable test for our archers, with strong winds reaching up to 51 km/h. Shooting in these challenging and unusual conditions required extra caution, patience and concentration, giving our archers valuable experience in adapting their shot process when conditions are less than ideal.

The difficult conditions also reinforced the importance of maintaining focus throughout each end. Rather than allowing the wind to dictate their performance, our archers were challenged to stay patient, trust their technique and remain committed to their shot process. These are exactly the kinds of experiences that help develop stronger competition skills and reinforce the focus training they work on at Rogue.

A special thank you goes to Samford Valley Target Archers for hosting the event and providing our archers with such a great opportunity to compete and learn.

We would also like to recognise two of our club members, Narelle and Simon, who contributed to the event by judging throughout the competition. We are proud to see our members supporting the wider archery community both on and off the shooting line.

A Milestone for Daniel and Lottie

The weekend was also particularly special for Daniel Wilson and Lottie Manewell, who both shot their first-ever 1440 round.

Completing a 1440 round is a significant milestone for an archer, requiring consistency, endurance and the ability to maintain focus across a long day of competition. It is another important step in their development and a great achievement to celebrate.

Overall, the SQAS Championships were about much more than medals and results. The challenging conditions gave our archers the opportunity to put their training into practice, learn to remain patient under pressure and experience the realities of competition.
