Starts 15 FebMount Petrie Bowmen

Available spots

Service Description

This is for archers who have successfully completed a course with Rogue Archery, and ready to join the local club! The next step is for you to join your local archery club, Mt Petrie Bowmen (MPB). We have organised an induction day at MPB for Saturday 15th February. Details below: Time: 10:30-11:30 (please arrive 15 minutes early) Place: Mount Petrie Bowmen, 1485 Old Cleveland Rd, Belmont. What to bring: Closed in shoes, Parent/guardian if U18, archery accessories - quiver arm guard, finger tab $20 to pay for equipment hire and sign-in Please note: There are limited numbers that the club can process at the induction. You must book to attend. It is also mandatory that you have your own finger tab and finger sling, and highly recommended to have your own quiver and armguard. Details: This induction is to provide all the necessary information you need about joining the archery club. We will give you a tour of the club, explain how the various shoots work, how to sign-in and what shooting options are available to you. You will be required to demonstrate your understanding of the safety rules and line discipline that you have been taught. Once you join the archery club, there are many options available to you depending on your interest. Archers have the opportunity to shoot recurve, compound or traditional bows, and can shoot at a social level, or strive for major events and competitions. The choice is up to you! The MPB membership cost is $210 per year for youth, and $315 for adults, which includes membership to the club, affiliation with Archery Australia (AA) and South Queensland Archery Society (SQAS). Assessment: As part of the induction, you will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge of the safety protocols, and basic shooting technique. This will not be a problem if you follow what you have been taught in our classes, however, it is imperative that you follow these rules strictly. This is because members of archery clubs (whether MPB or anywhere else) must be capable of following the safety protocols and acting autonomously, without the need for constant supervision. In the assessment, we will also assess your basic shooting competency to hit a target at 18m. Notwithstanding this, it is not a requirement to shoot all bullseyes. If you have any other questions, as always please feel free to send me a message or give me a call at any time.
